About me
Imagine… getting out of high school with a burning passion to be an Actor, so you study Acting at university.
After having so much fun, you get out into the real world to study some more, audition, get a couple of roles.
You then meet a group of skiing/snow boarding fiends who work and travel all over the world, and you realise that sounds fun.
So you spend your 20’s moving around, working in hospitality and taking months off at a time to travel.
But there’s something missing…
Now you’re 29, and after returning to Canada for your work/travel visa, you suddenly get this innate urge to find a purpose and use that great brain of yours.
So you move back to Australia to become a UX Designer: where your brain is absolutely loving the ability to use your skills, interests, and passions in human behaviour, problem solving and design.
Throughout my UX career I have been able to gauge more specifically where those skills and interests lie:
Holistic design
The ‘Butterfly Effect’ in design is a very real thing. One design decision can have ramifications across the entire journey, and I love understanding and improving a design across all touchpoints.Systems improvements
From processes to workshops, I love establishing and finding more impactful ways of working.User research
I'm a passionate storyteller, so I love creating the full picture using different data points from which super actionable insights are crafted
Information architecture
Making a seamless and seemingly intuitive user journey through information structures.Prototyping and user testing
I'm a firm believer in iterative design and user feedback is my guiding light.Interaction Design
While functionality is paramount, a well-designed interface or a smooth and intuitive interaction goes a long way (and fun fact, it also —fractionally, promotes the secretion of happy hormones).
If that’s all a bit of a corporate bore. Here’s what’s fun for me:
Becoming a better DJ
Making the most epic (cringe) birthday videos for friends
Vision-boarding in Pinterest
Hosting and curating 'salons' and brunches
Learning about the human experience: from neuroscience to esoteric practices
Dabbling in fashion design
Surfing (just getting back into it, best thing ever)
Printmaking
Going overboard for costume parties
